Royal Craft was founded in 1973 by Bill Cantalupo, one of the first contractors to bring seamless aluminum gutters to Chicago. The business moved to Downers Grove in the early 1980s and has been there ever since. Doors joined the scope as the company grew into full exterior remodeling. Today Albany doors are one of our most requested entry systems, alongside ProVia and Pella.
In 2023, Bill was joined by Mauricio, who runs sales and brought years of exterior expertise from a commercial roofing background. Bill or Mauricio measures every door install personally. That has not changed in over 50 years.
Albany specializes in entry systems that hold up to Chicago-area weather. The lineup covers entry doors, storm doors, patio doors, and secondary doors, in fiberglass, steel, and wood constructions. Glass options range from plain to decorative privacy panels, and finish options include paint, stain, and factory-applied wood-grain textures on fiberglass.
What matters most about an entry door is not the door itself. It is the surrounding install. Air-tight weather stripping, correctly flashed sill pan, properly shimmed jamb, and matched threshold height are the difference between a door that seals for 20 years and one that drafts in two. As a certified Albany installer, we install to the manufacturer specification every time.
Albany doors come with the manufacturer’s product warranty on materials and finish. Royal Craft adds our own 10-year workmanship warranty on the install. That means the door, the fit, the weather sealing, the threshold, and everything we touched during install is covered for a decade.
The warranty paperwork is included in the completed paid invoice you receive at project end. Every warranty is transferable to a future homeowner if you sell.
These are the trust questions we get from homeowners comparing Albany installers. Our answers are yes on all five:
What we hear most after an Albany install is that the fit and weather seal feel different from a cheap install. Below is a review a recent client left. We hear versions of this constantly:
“It was a pleasure working with you guys. You really know what you’re doing and kept us informed the whole way. You made it super easy for us to understand everything.”

A new front door is one of the fastest curb-appeal changes you can make. In Downers Grove, we install Albany entry systems across every housing era: Victorian entries in Denburn Woods and Prince Pond, mid-century ranches in Shady Lane Estates and Downers Grove Gardens, and newer contemporary homes in Fairview Pointe and Randall Park.
Different eras need different door styles. A historic Victorian gets a leaded-glass entry with matching sidelight. A ranch gets a wide fiberglass unit with woodgrain finish. A contemporary two-story gets a full-height glass entry with a modern handle. We help you match the door to the house.
